Walnut is visually stunning and its strength and hardness make it a great choice for cabinet doors and cabinets. Walnut sits at 1010 on the Janka standard wood species hardness scale, just above cherry (950) and below red oak (1290).
Q. Is Walnut A Good Material for Kitchen Cabinets?
A. We’re seeing walnut used in whole kitchen cabinets with beautiful results that warm up the space and look sophisticated offset with creamy white or bright white walls and/or countertops. We’re also seeing walnut used in built-in, furniture-look cabinet pieces paired with painted or other lighter wood cabinet materials in the kitchen or dining room. Walnut also creates an elegant look as a primary and secondary bathroom and powder room material.
