We love it when cabinetmakers ask “What makes TaylorCraft Cabinet Door Company’s doors different from other manufacturers?” because we love to let them know the extra steps we take to make an exceptional quality cabinet door!

Here are a few ways we make cabinet doors differently:

  • We use state-of-the-art CNC automation to build cope and stick cabinet doors to 100% precise and accurate size and square. Take a peek inside our cabinet door shop here.
  • Door parts are sanded and de-nibbed using a multi-step sanding and surfacing process.
  • Edges are eased, not only for aesthetics and feel, but for ease and quality of finishing.
  • We conduct strength tests to ensure our cope and stick cabinet doors are some of the strongest in the industry.
  • We use foam panel spacers on our cabinet doors instead of rubber space balls, so we don’t have oil bleed through.
  • Sizing/square is checked on award-winning, two-axis Proscale QC tables where doors can’t pass to the next stage if they are not true to size and square.
  • We buy Northern lumber for the best color and to reduce mineral and sap stain
  • Our white oak lumber is harvested in the Great Lakes region of the US, known for its slower growth and consistent white oak color. We use a proprietary lumber grade developed specifically for producing cabinet doors.
  • Rift white oak is a specialty in the hardwood lumber industry, requiring specific sawing methods to produce the desired aesthetic. The high demand on rift white oak often has this product on allocation from the few sawmills who specialize in it. Thankfully, we have a partnership tapping into the world largest producer of rift oaks to offer our customers a constant and stable supply on some of the most beautiful rift white oak produced anywhere in North America!
  • We buy alder from mills that source from areas less prone to wind shake from strong winds, for higher quality materials and fewer defects
  • We buy steamed walnut and cherry for better color consistency and uniformity.
  • Our lumber is produced using the latest kiln equipment, moisture monitoring and management, and laser guided scanning, and is custom graded after drying and surfacing to minimize defects and maximize yield and value.
  • Wood is color and grain matched by machine and by hand.
  • Doors are packed and labeled by job when possible to reduce packaging waste and simplify unloading and unwrapping.
  • Very small orders are packaged using specially engineered boxes and material to offer maximum protection against damage.
  • Customers aren’t locked into preset door designs. Design your own cabinet door styles using our selection of dozens of edge and panel profiles.
  • We continually work to improve our cabinet door quality and our processes.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions and we look forward to serving you!
